Just last season,
LeBron James of the
Los Angeles Lakers surpassed
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time leading scorer. It was a massive moment for the league, for the Lakers, and for James' career.
Although he celebrated on the court with his teammates during the game, he was right back to work the next day.
James' business partner Paul Rivera recently told the Clemson Tigers football team that James didn't give himself any time to rest after passing Abdul-Jabbar. Instead, he was spotted in the gym the day after.
“This man just broke the NBA’s all-time scoring record, right? Doesn’t have a game today, doesn’t have a practice, doesn’t have film, doesn’t have anything, and he got his a-- up and went to the gym,” Rivera said in an Instagram video that was shared online by James himself.
“So, again, it’s the commitment to that process, and it’s every single step that matters," Rivera added.
For anyone who has been paying attention to James throughout his career, this isn't very surprising at all. Even when he has been doing very well and winning numerous accolades, Jams has stayed committed to pushing himself to his limits and always keeping his body in great shape.
That is why he is still playing so well at his age. He is now 39 years old but still averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game. That is a massive accomplishment, but it doesn't happen by accident or because of luck. Instead, it is because even when James is making NBA history, he is still driven to keep his body and mind in the best shape possible.
