The Los Angeles Lakers have not had the sort of season they wanted, at least not so far. Time is starting to run out and the team may struggle to reach the playoffs. The season has been filled with some big wins but also some very disappointing losses too.
Austin Reaves has been there for it all, one of the most consistent players on the team and one who hasn't missed many games.
He spoke about the sting of defeat, something the Lakers know all too well this year.
“I think you just take every day as an individual challenge,” Reaves said. “For me at least, losing is way worse than winning is good. I love to win but losing, it sucks. You go back and you think well, what if we did this, I did this."
Reaves said that even though losing is very painful, he tries to not think about it too much, thanks to the NBA's busy schedule.
“But then again, you play 82 games in a year and another one is right around the corner. So you can’t dwell on it too long, you have to move forward and like you said, it’s a tough stretch, but we should embrace that and really just try to play the best basketball we can play possible. If we do that, we feel like we have a chance to beat anybody.”
The Lakers have been hit-or-miss all season long, scoring some impressive victories and then giving up shocking losses. They have lost games they were favored to win and won in games when they were counted out.
If they can correct those problems in the next few weeks, they could have yet another strong playoff run and give Reaves and his teammates something to be happy about.
