Bronny James and Ziaire Williams made their Sierra Canyon debuts today. Bronny had 15 points and Ziaire led all scores with 32 🔥
Over the last few weeks, there has been even more speculation and rumors surrounding Bronny James, son of Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James. Will he submit his name for the 2024 or 2025 NBA Draft? If so, which team will sign him? Will he play with his father or move to a team besides the Los Angeles Lakers?
There is a lot of attention being paid to Bronny and that can be hard for anyone, especially someone his age.
Memphis Grizzlies star Ziaire Williams knows Bronny very well. He was teammates with the USC freshman during their time together at Sierra Canyon High School. Speaking to The Ringer, he praised Bronny and the way he is handling a very intense, unique situation.
"Bronny has the weight of the world on his shoulders,” Williams said.
He continued, “I don’t know what I would do if I was in his position, with all the attention and just the notoriety. He’s not even worried about it — or doesn’t even see it, to be honest. He just — he blinds it so well.”
So far this season, Bronny is putting up just 5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Those numbers pale in comparison to what his father produces, of course, and it has led some people to wonder how he will do in the draft if he submits his name this year.
ESPN recently created a mock draft for 2024 that didn't even include Bronny, which only added more pressure to the young star's shoulders.
But Williams said that Bronny is handling himself well and is able to keep himself focused solely on playing well and making himself a better basketball player.
In the next few months, Bronny will garner an even bigger spotlight as the NBA draft gets closer and closer. But even with that mounting attention, the young player will handle it well, according to his dear friend and former teammate.
