Bam Adebayo was named to his 3rd All-Star game yesterday evening, and tonight he showed the world why he deserved that selection. The big man dominated this game and led the Miami Heat to victory over the Washington Wizards 110-102 at Capital One Arena.
After losing 7 in a row, Miami have now won 2 in a row. The reigning Eastern Conference champions have looked vulnerable at times this season, but with over 30 games remaining in the regular season the Heat still have time to build momentum heading into the playoffs, and as they know from last season, it doesn’t matter where they finish in the standings because as long as they make it to the postseason, they’ll always have a chance to compete for the championship.
Adebayo led the Heat with 20 points and 14 rebounds on 57% shooting. Jimmy Butler had a fabulous game as well, finishing with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Dynamic scoring guards Tyler Herro and Terry Rozier each finished with 15 points and 8 assists, and 5-time All-Star Kevin Love recorded a 13-point, 10 rebound double-double off the bench.
For the Wizards, Corey Kispert shot the lights out as he scored 26 points on 6 made threes. Jordan Poole finished with 16 points and 10 assists while Daniel Gafford ended the night with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
This win improves the Heat to 26-23, which makes them 7th in the Eastern Conference. Miami is 3-7 over their last 10 games and will face off against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Wizards to 9-39, which makes them 14th in the Eastern Conference. Over their last 10 games, Washington is 2-8 and they are currently on a 2-game losing streak. Their next game will be on Sunday afternoon against the Phoenix Suns.
