Earlier this week, the Milwaukee Bucks made the bold move of firing former head coach Adrian Griffin. Just hours later, Doc Rivers was signed to lead the team. Rivers has yet to officially coach a game but he is quickly assembling a crew of assistant coaches around him.
On Friday, it was announced that the Bucks have hired Dave Joerger and Rex Kalamian as assistant coaches on the staff. Joerger worked with Rivers during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers. Before that, he was a head coach for the Memphis Grizzlies as well as the Sacramento Kings.  Kalamian was an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers, although he has recently been working as a scout for the Brooklyn Nets.
As for Rivers, he signed his contract and is bound to the Bucks through the 2026-27 season. The contract reportedly is in the range of $40 million. The signing means that the Bucks are now paying not only Rivers but also former coaches Mike Budenholzer and Adrian Griffin for the net three-and-a-half years.
The pressure is mounting on Rivers. While the team is already quite successful this season, anything less than a strong showing deep into the playoffs will be considered a disappointment, especially since Damian Lillard was added at the start of this season.
Within the next few days, the Bucks will likely announce Rivers' first game and will give him a chance to address the media and speak about his plans for the team.
