NBA Sunday began with this Eastern Conference clash between the Philadelphia 76ers hosting the Milwaukee Bucks. Both teams were at similar places before Embiid's injury, but now with Joel out, Philly is focusing more in winning as many games as they can without Embiid, trying ti hold their spot in the standings. Milwaukee shut all the criticism down with an important win against the best of the West, the Minnesota Timberwolves and was trying to add another "W" to ignite a winning steak.
A potential Playoffs duel was the first of many games on Sunday. Doc Rivers was back at Philadelphia, after spending three years with the Sixers organization. Milwaukee came to this game missing Khris Middleton but with the rest of the squad healthy.
The Sixers were missing their superstar, Joell Embiid, out since January due to a knee injury; in addition to the recently acquired, Robert Covington. It was a tough mission for Philly.
On the other hand, with Milwaukee's triumph over the almighty Wolves, Giannis and his team found what they were looking for, an important win to build on top.
The Bucks came out rolling since the first minute, and they kept that way for the entire game, very efficient from the field despite looking a bit careless with the ball, registering 18 turnovers.
Damian Lillard was key during the first half, scoring or assisting in several of the Bucks' possessions. Dame is looking very good after the All-Star break, and its key for him to maintain this level in order to have serious championship aspirations. He finished the game with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.
Giannis Antetokuonmpo was more relevant in the second half, were he was able to take advantage of the small lineup that the Sixers had, with no big man to properly defend him. He finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists.
Philadelphia struggled on offense throughout the entire game. Tyrese Maxey recorded 24 points and 7 assists but nobody else was efficient enough to help him. The Sixers have a lot of trouble generating offense without Embiid. They expected more from Buddy Hield, a player that was almost missing from today's match, scoring only 11 points.
The key of the game for the Bucks was a much more efficient shooting performance, 54% from the field as a team, against a 37% registered by the 76ers.
Philadelphia will be facing Boston on Tuesday, trying to recover from this loss, while the Bucks will be receiving the Charlotte Hornets, at the Fi-serv forum.
