The
Minnesota Timberwolves arrived at Ball Arena and picked up the biggest win of their season as they defeated the
Denver Nuggets 111-98 behind a dominant
Rudy Gobert performance to reclaim the #1 seed in the West.
The 3-time DPOY finished the game with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks on 7/8 shooting for Minnesota.
Anthony Edwards finished with 25 points and 3 steals while Mike Conley had 23 points and 8 assists with 5 triples. Jaden McDaniels recorded 17 points on 70% shooting.
Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets with 32 points and 10 rebounds. Reggie Jackson started for the injured Jamal Murray and he finished with 12 points and 10 assists. Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon each scored 14 points while Deandre Jordan provided 11 points and 7 boards off the bench.
Minnesota improves to 51-22 with this win and now reclaim the top seed in the West. This was a massive win for the Timberwolves, especially without their second best player in Karl-Anthony Towns. This team is fighting for home court advantage throughout the playoffs and this was a statement victory for them, especially against the reigning champions. The Wolves are on a 4-game winning streak and will look to keep this up on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls.
Denver drops to 51-23 with this loss and now fall to the 3rd seed in the West. This was a disappointing loss as they are now playing catch up once again to earn the top spot in the conference. The Nuggets are widely viewed as the best team out West so they will always be a target every game they play. This is now a 2-game losing streak so they’ll look to bounce back on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
