Draymond Green: Most beloved villain ever. Nicest cheap-shot artist ever. No NBA player has ever committed more dirty plays, yet no NBA player with such ordinary career stats (9/7/6) has been nearly as popular as a podcaster and TNT commentator.
In the days since his latest ejection, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors has received a fair share of criticism.
One of the people laying into Green is Skip Bayless. The sports analyst hopped on Twitter to summarize Green with a number of back-handed compliments.
Bayless said:
“Most beloved villain ever. Nicest cheap-shot artist ever. No NBA player has ever committed more dirty plays, yet no NBA player with such ordinary career stats (9/7/6) has been nearly as popular as a podcaster and TNT commentator.”
To be more accurate, Green is averaging 8.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game this year and remains a pivotal part of the team - when he is playing.
However, Bayless is correct when he calls Green a "villain" because he has established a reputation as an unreliable hothead over the years.
And he has made increasingly poor decisions, which is hurting his Warriors. For example, he only played in four minutes of the recent game against the Orlando Magic before receiving back-to-back technicals and being ejected. This was a must-win game for the Warriors, who are attempting to stay in contention for the Play-In Tournament.
At this point, many people are fed up with Green and his on-court antics. They think he is a troublemaker who doesn't help his team. He doesn't seem bothered by the fact that a lot of folks consider him a villain but he is surely upset that some don't consider him a crucial part of the Warriors.
This isn't the first time that Bayless hasn't minced words about Green and it likely will not be the last. But will it be the last time that Green will be ejected from a game this season?
