Anthony Edwards put on a show tonight and is making a case
to be the face of the NBA one day. In this matchup, he took over to lead the
Minnesota Timberwolves to a 101-86 victory over the
Brooklyn Nets at Target Center.
The fight for the 1st seed in the West is as tight as it
could be, and tonight the Wolves reclaimed the top spot for now. It’s a 4-team
race between them, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, and Denver
Nuggets, and with the amount of talent on each squad anybody can win the
conference.
Ant-Man did his part to help Minnesota, as he led the team
with 29 points and 8 rebounds.
Karl-Anthony Towns also played amazing,
finishing with 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 made three pointers. Mike Conley
had 14 points while Kyle Anderson recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds.
For the Nets,
Mikal Bridges struggled, scoring 15 points on
33% shooting. Cam Thomas led the team in scoring with 18 points and Nic Claxton
finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Dorian Finney-Smith ended with 11
points while Cam Johnson had 10 points off the bench.
Minnesota jumps up to 40-17 with this win and hold a 0.5
game lead over the 2nd seeded OKC Thunder. The Wolves are 7-3 over
their last 10 games and will look to build off this win on Tuesday against the
San Antonio Spurs.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Nets to 21-35, which makes
them 11th in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn is now 3 games behind the 10th
seeded Hawks for the last play-in spot. They are 2-8 over their last 10 games and
currently on a 4-game losing streak. Their next matchup will be on Monday against
the Memphis Grizzlies where they’ll look to bounce back after a tough stretch
of games.
