Jalen Green and the
Houston Rockets showed out on Wednesday
night, defeating the
Los Angeles Lakers 135-119 at the Toyota Center.
The Houston Rockets had 5 players score 17 or more points on
Wednesday night, with Jalen Green leading the charge. He finished with 34
points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists on 52% shooting. He’s really finding his
groove, scoring 29 or more points in 3 of his last 4 games. Breakout star
Alperen Sengun also had a monstrous game, scoring 31 points while grabbing 12
rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. Rookie Cam Whitmore exploded for 20 points
off the bench and starting forwards Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr. each scored
17 and 18 points, respectively.
For the Lakers,
LeBron James finished with 23 points, 6
rebounds, and 10 assists on 60% shooting. Co-star
Anthony Davis ended with 23
points and 7 rebounds, and D’Angelo Russell also scored 23 points while dishing
out 5 assists.
This victory improves the Rockets record to 22-24, making
them the 11th seed in the Western Conference standings. They are
currently 1 game behind the 10th seeded Utah Jazz for the final spot
in the play-in tournament, so this was a huge win for them. They are 4-6 over
their last 10 games and will look to build off this win on Wednesday night
against the New Orleans Pelicans.
On the other hand, this is a tough loss for the Lakers. They
currently sit 9th in the Western Conference at 24-24, going 5-5 in
their last 10 games. The Lakers are 3.5 games out of the 6th seed,
which is currently occupied by the Phoenix Suns. This is their goal, as they
want to avoid the play-in tournament at all costs. Their next game will be
tomorrow night in Atlanta to face the Hawks.
