Every year, the main end-of-year individual award that is handed out in the NBA based on merit during the Regular Season is the MVP of the Season. In the end, team sports also demand a certain individual excellence, and in the best competition in the world, in this 2023/24 campaign, there are a good number of stars who have performed at such an outstanding level since the beginning that they could win the award without any problems.
Some of the current favorites for the award are
Nikola Jokic,
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander,
Luka Doncic,
Jayson Tatum,
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard or even a Domantas Sabonis who is reaching the next level in his leadership alongside De'Aaron Fox in Sacramento Kings. Below, we show the latest update of the rankings in the race for the award.
1- Nikola Jokic
Top of the list is Denver Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic. The 29-year-old is averaging 26 points per game for the franchise. He is also contributing 12.3 rebounds and 9.2 assists.
2- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Although he still doesn't rank at the top of the list, the Oklahoma City Thunder star is nipping at Jokic's heels in an absolutely brilliant season for him, averaging 31.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
3- Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks is third on the list, ahead of Luka Doncic. The Greek, although suffering from a minor injury right now, is averaging 30.8 points. He also averages 11.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.
4- Luka Doncic
To understand what Doncic is doing this season you only have to look at his ranking and that of the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, currently in the West play-in. 5- Jayson Tatum
It was about time to see the star of the best team in the NBA, Boston Celtics, in the Top 5 of the MVP ranking. Tatum is playing at an outstanding level this year, standing out above teammates like Jaylen Brown or Kristaps Porzingis who are also very strong. He averages 27 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
The next players ranked, in order, in the MVP ranking are Domantas Sabonis (6th), Kawhi Leonard (7th), Kevin Durant (8th), Anthony Davis (9th) and Devin Booker (10th).
