Just a few days ago, an inside report from the
Los Angeles Lakers stated that the team was intrigued by the idea of signing
LeBron James' son, Bronny, in the upcoming offseason. The move to draft Bronny wouldn't be about bolstering their roster, however. Instead, it would be a way to please his father. Apparently, James has made it very clear that he'd like the Lakers to draft his son this summer.
Now, NBA analyst Doug Gottlieb is sharing his opinion about LeBron trying to play alongside his son in Los Angeles or another franchise without being a player who will currently occupy a high
NBA Draft slot.
"I get it because it's been done. I've told you that Bronny is not an NBA player at this point in his development. LeBron is going to force it. If it's true loyalty to LeBron, why do they have to do these things? Unfortunately, this is the deal they made."
Bronny, a freshman at USC, is averaging about 5 points per game right now and there have been several analysts saying that he is not yet ready for the NBA. Most people expect him to submit his name into the draft this summer but few think he will be a top-ten pick.
Still, LeBron really wants to play with his son and has even gone as far as to say that he would move to a new team in order to make that happen.
James has the ability to put pressure because he has a $51.4 million player option this summer, which means he could easily cut ties with the team and move on. If the Lakers with to keep James and convince him to not use that option, they may have to explore acquiring his son.
Is LeBron really forcing the Lakers to make a move and will they actually do it? Fans will find out this summer.
