NBA Rumors: The
Los Angeles Clippers aren't expected to make a whole lot of moves at the upcoming NBA
trade deadline because they are currently doing very well and are the third-best team in the Western Conference. But they still might make a minor adjustment or two before this Thursday.
Marc Stein is reporting that the Clippers have shown interest in
Charlotte Hornets forward
P.J. Washington. Washington is putting up 13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season.
Because of his six-foot-seven frame, Washington can be a smaller center but also can operate as a wing player as well. He could quickly work his way into the rotation of the Clippers and provide support for Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, James Harden, and others.
The Clippers have allegedly wanted to add a forward with versatile skills for some time now, while the Hornets have continued to struggle and have contemplated making substantial changes soon. If they decide to ship Washington out, they might also say goodbye to other players too.
Washington is the sort of player who could fit with many teams, so a bidding war could start if the Hornets offer him up to the trade market. With that being said, the Clippers don't have a ton of trade assets or cash they can get rid of, so they could easily be outbid.
Aside from Washington, Kyle Lowry, Miles Bridges, and Gordon Hayward could soon be saying goodbye to Charlotte. They could be on the verge of totally shaking up the roster in hopes of gaining a chance at the playoffs.
