Rumors: Since coming to the
Brooklyn Nets,
Mikal Bridges has become a bonafide star and has averaged 23.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists since being traded by the Phoenix Suns last season. But the Nets remain a team that still needs a few more pieces before they are true playoff contenders. So, will they trade Bridges before the upcoming February 8 deadline?
One team that could use the help of Bridges is the
Houston Rockets, another squad that is not doing as well as fans had hoped. Would they be able to make a trade that would get them Bridges and his special style of ball-handling and floor spacing?
If the Rockets decided to part ways with new recruit Dillon Brooks, they could send him to Brooklyn with a few draft picks and could receive Bridges in return. Brooks would be a smart call because he has strong defensive powers, although he also comes with his fair share of controversy and on-court antics.
If the Nets want to land Reggie Bullock Jr. and Jalen Green from the Rockets, they could use Bridges as a trade chip to make that happen. The contracts match and Green's offense and Bullock's defense would be a sweet deal for Brooklyn. They would have a hard time saying no to that proposition.
Finally, they could create a three-team trade that would get another front office involved. There are plenty of teams throughout the league looking to make deals before the
trade deadline but need other teams to help them make it happen. The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are just two teams who could get roped into a possible Rockets-Nets deal for Bridges.
