Sitting as the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference with a lacking 19-28 record, there is a very good chance that
Brooklyn Nets might make some big moves before the upcoming NBA
trade deadline. But will they part ways with a player who has been with them through thick and thin?
Marc Stein is reporting that the team is expected to consider deals for
Nic Claxton, the 24-year-old center who has been with the Nets since 2019. That is a big change because they have previously said that they wouldn't part ways with him and that he could be the future of the franchise.
Claxton is a former Defensive Player of the Year candidate and is still very young, which could make him really attractive to multiple teams.
There have been numerous reports stating that the team will part ways with Royce O'Neal and
Dorian Finney-Smith, although it's not clear which team will land them because multiple front offices are interested in them. Could talks around Claxton heat up as February 8 approaches?
For the season, Claxton is putting up 12.4 points and 10.4 rebounds. Those are some of the best numbers of his career, which surely intrigues a bunch of teams all across the league. He could be a significant help for several teams, both offensively and defensively.
The Nets could be looking radically different by this time next week and Claxton might find himself in a totally different part of the country.
