As the NBA
trade deadline quckly approaches, one team to keep a close eye on is the
Atlanta Hawks. For the last few weeks, it has become clear that the team will soon part ways with
Dejounte Murray.
Murray has only been with the team for a little more than a single season and he is still producing impressive numbers but it is clear that he isn't a perfect fit alongside Trae Young, as the Hawks sit as the tenth team in the East with a 17-23 record.
According to HoopsHype and other outlets, the
Los Angeles Lakers are currently the frontrunners to land Murray, partly because of his representation at Klutch Sports.
The Hawks allegedly want at least two first-round draft picks in exchange for Murray. Any potential deal between the Lakers and Hawks would most definitely included point guard D'Angelo Russell, as well as their 2029 first-round draft pick.
The Hawks reportedly want Austin Reaves from the Lakers too, although LA has shot down any chance of that happening. They would, however, include rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino.
HoopsHype is also reporting that the
New York Knicks are interested in landing Murray but they aren't willing to offer too much to get him. The
Brooklyn Nets are also intrigued by the concept of signing Murray, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Several other teams could submit offers for Murray, although many of them are hesitant to include the draft picks, according to multiple outlets.
Perhaps most interesting is the fact that the San Antonio Spurs, Murray's first home in the NBA, might be willing to sign the player again. If that were to happen, it would be a full-circle move for Murray, who played in San Antonio from 2016 to 2022.
This season, Murray is averaging 21 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 47.1% from the field.
