Andrew Wiggins appears as a temptation for any team that's aiming to upgrade its roster before the NBA
trade deadline. According to HoopsHype, there's a real interest from
Dallas Mavericks to acquire the Canadian wingman as the
Golden State Warriors also want to find him a new destination.
The potential deal could represent a "low-selling moment" for the Warriors, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Wiggins has underperformed this season, averaging just 12.0 points and 1.5 assists in 38 games, with his three-point percentage declining to a career-low 29.5%.
Despite being key in the Warriors' 2022 title run, this season the team has shown better numbers without Wiggins' presence on the court. Andrew's potential departure would also benefit the Warriors financially, as they look to get under the second salary cap before the end of the 2023-24 season.
The challenge lies in finding a team willing to bet on Wiggins' resurgence. The Dallas Mavericks are mentioned as possible candidates, along with the Charlotte Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers, who could benefit from his contribution from beyond the arc. Wiggins' future is at the center of speculation as the NBA trade deadline approaches.
