After missing nearly four months, Mitchell Robinson returned from a 50-game absence due to a stress fracture in his left ankle. The New York Knicks were able to dominate in his first game back as they blew out the Toronto Raptors 145-101 at Scotiabank Arena.

The 25-year-old center played 12 minutes off the bench and finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 blocks for the Knicks. Miles McBride led the team in scoring with 29 points including 9 made three-pointers (career-high). Jalen Brunson had 26 points with 7 assists while Bojan Bogdanovic scored 18 points. Isaiah Hartenstein scored 15 points while backup Precious Achiuwa provided 19 points, 13 boards, and 2 blocks off the bench.

Gradey Dick led the Raptors with 23 points on 10/18 shooting. Gary Trent Jr. had 18 points with 6 assists while Kelly Olynyk finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Garrett Temple contributed 15 points and 3 triples off the bench.

New York improves to 44-28 with this win and jump up to the 3rd seed in the East. They are now just 2 games behind the Bucks for the 2nd seed and there’s a chance the Knicks can overtake Milwaukee for that spot. They are slowly getting healthy at the right time and when at full strength, this team is scary.

This squad has one of the best depth in the NBA and is gritty on both sides of the ball. They are peaking at the right time, going 8-2 over their last 10 contests and currently on a 3-game winning streak. Their next matchup will be on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs.

Toronto drops to 23-50 and has been eliminated from the playoffs. They will now be preparing for the off-season and finding players who can compliment their young core of Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley. This now marks 12 losses in a row for the Raptors and they’ll face off against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.
