On Monday night,
Jalen Brunson scored 34 points for his
New York Knicks as they overtook the Golden State Warriors at home. It was just the latest great game by Brunson in the 2023-24 season.
And Warriors head coach
Steve Kerr definitely took note of Brunson's work. Following the game, he revealed that Brunson might be earning his spot on
Team USA during the upcoming 2024
Olympic Games in Paris.
“There’s a reason he’s on our list. Because he’s a great, great player and high character, a leader,” Kerr said.
“He’s everything you want as a player. He’s high on our list and he’s definitely somebody we’re considering," he added.
Brunson definitely does have a ton of positive attributes that would make him a huge help for Team USA as they battle other countries in the Olympic games. He is a great shooter, a speedy and driven defender and now a strong team leader too.
Brunson is having a wonderful season, averaging 27.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists on 47.8% from the field and 40% from the three-point line. Since coming to the Knicks last season, Brunson has grown a lot as a player and has taken the mantle of a natural leader for his team.
Additionally, Brunson was a part of Team USA last summer during their unsuccessful run during the FIBA World Cup.
Because of the hard work and skill of Brunson, the Knicks are now the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41-27 record. He has also gained the attention of many NBA fans, even those who aren't rooting for the Knicks. It's not a surprise that Kerr and the people in charge of Team USA are noticing Brunson and wanting him to travel overseas in the summer. He could be a massive help when representing his country.
