In a Tuesday night full of games around the NBA, the
New Orleans Pelicans travelled to New York to face the
Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. The Pelicans are on fire and with all the roster clicking, especially their biggest offensive threat:
Zion Williamson.
New Orleans Pelicans are possibly enjoying their best present in franchise history, at least since they switched their name from Hornets to Pelicans, back in 2013. Drafting Zion Williamson as the number 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft is probably one of the biggest reasons for their current success.
Zion is having his best campaign since he got into the league. Despite dealing with some injuries the last couple of seasons, and not being entirely in shape sometimes, Williamson has matured and he now embraces the challenge. Running the floor, playing defense, jumping like he has some sort of cheat on his sneakers.
The Pelicans are currently 4th in the Western Conference, just one game behind the third seeded Clippers. They've won three in a row and eight of the last ten games. With a healthy roster and Brandon Ingram understanding his role perfectly, they could be the upcoming playoffs' dark horse.
In this case, we can see
Naji Marshall playing great defense, going for the steal and then throwing a great alley-oop pass for Zion who comes flying at full speed for the dunk. Just great unselfish basketball.
