The New York Knicks received some bad news today. OG Anunoby has suffered a little setback after returning from the elbow surgery and will be missing tonight's key matchup against Golden State Warriors. In addition, it's expected for him to be sidelined for a few more games.
The New York Knicks can't catch a break. New York has enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent years, but after January bad luck has plagued the squad with injuries. Julius Randle has been out since Januray 27th with a dislocated shoulder, Jalen Brunson had to miss several games with some minor injuries, Mitchell Robinson is out too since December, and now OG Anunoby, who came back after a month recovering from an elbow surgery, suffered a little setback and will have to sit out for the upcoming games.
Anunoby has been sensational for the Knicks, producing an immediate impact on the team, first when he arrived from Toronto in a trade between the Raptors and the Knicks, and a couple of days back, when he returned from that elbow surgery that sidelined him for 18 games back in February.
Sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski the following:
"OG Anunoby is gonna be out more than just tonight. That right elbow has flared up again, they need it to calm down. How long he is out is unclear, but it's certainly a concern for this Knicks team. They do not know the status of Julius Randle moving forward, and right now they will miss OG Anunoby more than just this game against the Warriors tonight."
New York has managed to stay on top despite all these health issues but with 15 games left in the regular season, the rest of the Knicks will have to continue to embrace the challenge and move forward.
