Paul George has been with the Los Angeles Clippers since the 2019-20 season. Since joining them, he has averaged 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists and has become the second-most important player for the team, right behind Kawhi Leonard.
However, his time with the Clippers could be coming to an end soon.
Keith Pompey is reporting that the general belief is that the Clippers are "unwilling to meet Paul George's expectations for his next contract."
"The Sixers are closely monitoring the situation, hoping the Clippers let George slip away," Pompey wrote.
The Clippers have several big stars on the roster: George, Leonard, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden, just to name a few. That means they will be strapped for cash for the foreseeable future. They would much rather save money if they can. That means they might offer George a smaller deal than he is comfortable with.
If George decides that the Clippers aren't giving him enough, he would be welcomed by several teams all over the NBA. The Sixers would love to add George to the lineup, envisioning him as a great fit alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and the rest of the crew. He could really be the missing piece that the team has needed for so long.
With that being said, the 76ers won't be the only angling to get George. He will be one of the most sought-after commodities on the market and could fetch a huge payday, it just might not be in Los Angeles.
