The Philadelphia 76ers picked up a huge win tonight against the Washington Wizards. They won 119-113 at Capital One Arena with All-Star Tyrese Maxey leading the way.
The reigning MVP Joel Embiid is out due to a meniscus injury, and his team has suffered from his absence. Philly is 5-13 this season without the superstar big man, and they are hopeful that he can return for the playoffs.
They added sharpshooter Buddy Hield during the trade deadline to help add some scoring while JoJo is out, and it was just announced that guard Kyle Lowry will also sign with the team as a free agent after his buyout with the Charlotte Hornets.
Tyrese Maxey led the way tonight with 28 points. Newly acquired Buddy Hield scored 23 points with 4 made three pointers. Rookie Ricky Council scored 19 points with 10 rebounds off the bench.
Washington made some deals at the trade deadline too, acquiring Richaun Holmes from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Daniel Gafford. They also brought in Marvin Bagley earlier in the season.
Tyus Jones scored a team high 25 points along with 9 assists. Kyle Kuzma and Deni Avdija each contributed 21 points, while Jordan Poole struggled with just 11 points.
