The
Portland Trail Blazers set up a new record in their most
recent outing against the
Denver Nuggets.
The Blazers ended up on the losing side with a score of
114-111 at the Moda Center in Portland on Saturday. During that match, the home
side ended up fielding five rookie players in the starting lineup.
The likes of Scoot Henderson Duop Reath, Kris Murray,
Toumani Camara and Rayan Rupert all started for the Blazers. The last time such
a thing happened was more than a decade back in NBA.
In 2012, the Golden State Warriors had five rookie players
when they faced the San Antonio Spurs. Klay Thompson Charles Jenkins, Chris
Wright, Jeremy Tyler and Mickell Gladness appeared for the Warriors in their
final game of what was a lockout-shortened season.
Saturday’s defeat, however, did not have any impact on the season
of the Blazers as they are already out of the race for the playoffs. Currently,
they are placed second from the bottom in the Western Conference with just 19
wins and 52 defeats this season.
On the other hand, after the win, the Nuggets are now placed
second on the Western Conference table with 50 wins and 21 defeats. They became
the first team from the Western Conference to register 50 wins this season and
the second after the Boston Celtics.
