The
Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly set to launch a
protest to the NBA to challenge their recent defeat against the Oklahoma City
Thunder.
The Blazers went on to lose the contest with a score of 111-109
on Thursday. As per ESPN’s recent report, it is claimed that the losing side is
contesting that their coach Chauncey Billups was calling for a timeout on the
sidelines but the match referee did not pay attention to it.
Billups was clearly furious on the sidelines and protested after the referee penalised the Blazers for Malcolm Brogdon’s double dribble. He was
later ejected from the dugout as well. Talking
after the match, Billups stated that he was trying to call a timeout at half-court but he was not heard.
"We've got timeouts," Billups said after the match.
"Referees usually are prepared for that, you know, that instance, that
situation. I'm at half-court, trying to call a timeout. It's just frustrating.
My guys played too hard for that. It's a frustrating play."
As per the NBA rules, a team has 48 hours to file a
complaint whereas they have five days to provide evidence of their claim.
Blazers, who have now lost their last two matches, is now set to face the
Houston Rockets in their next match on Wednesday.
