This has been the worst season of Andrew Wiggins' career and that has led NBA analysts to assume that the Golden State Warriors will send him to another team before the upcoming trade deadline.
However, head coach Steve Kerr is hopeful that he gets to keep working with Wiggins for the remainder of the season and beyond. Speaking to the press, Kerr expressed his hopes for the young player.
"I think he's playing well, and I'm very hopeful and expect him to be here when the trade deadline passes," Kerr said about Wiggins.
He added, "I think he's been a big part of our team now for years, helped us win a title a year and a half ago. He still has a lot of career ahead of him. I'm really hoping he's here and I fully expect him to be here. I don't know if any player gets to go through his entire career and not see his name in a trade rumor."
There is no doubt that Wiggins has been an important part of the team for a few years and helped them claim their championship victory in 2022. But there is also no doubt that Wiggins isn't looking like a champion right now. The former number-one draft pick is putting up just 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game this year, which is a big drop from last year's totals of 17.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
The Warriors will almost certainly makes adjustments to the roster before the February 8 trade deadline and Wiggins could still be on the move but he might not be the only Golden State player leaving.
