Team USA managed to avoid the Group of Death as the draws
were made for the basketball competition of the Summer Olympics. The mega-event
is set to be organised in the month of July and August in the French capital
city of Paris.
Team USA are placed in Group C alongside Serbia, South Sudan
and Puerto Rico. Italy, Lithuania and Puerto Rico are also in line to become a
part of the group as well.
The good news for Team USA was that they managed to avoid Group A which can be regarded as the Group of Death featuring the likes of 2021
bronze medalists Australia and Canada.
The group can also end up featuring the likes of Spain who
are currently placed number two in the rankings and Greece which features the kind
of players like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Luka Doncic-led Slovenia.
Team USA will be coached by the current coach of the Golden
State Warriors
Steve Kerr and is expected to feature a host of star players
including the likes of Los Angeles Lakers star forward
LeBron James, Warriors’ Stephen
Curry, Phoenix Suns veteran forward
Kevin Durant, Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum and
the Philadelphia 76ers’ star forward Joel Embiid.
Team USA won the gold medal in the 2021 Olympics where they
defeated France in the final with a score of 87-82.
