Former
Boston Celtics centre
Scot Pollard has revealed that
he is getting better after a recent heart transplant. The ex-Sacramento Kings star was waiting to find a heart
donor to get the transplantation done.
Pollard, in a recent post on his official account on social
media platform X—previously known as Twitter—stated that he is now on his way
to recovery after getting the transplantation done.
"I’ve been told the heart is big, powerful and is a
perfect fit! Now on to the crucial part of recovery," he wrote.
"Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support, but most of
all, deepest thanks to the donor, our hero."
The 48-year-old was experiencing a unique condition from last
several years where his heart used to beat 10,000 times extra per day.
He was previously quoted in a report where he expressed optimism
about finally finding a heart donor who can save his life.
“I’m staying here until I get a heart,” he said back then.
“My heart got weaker. [Doctors] agree this is my best shot at getting a heart
quicker. It's out of my hands. It's not even in the doctor's hands. It's up to
the donor networks … They can’t predict, but they are confident I’ll get a
heart in weeks, not months.”
Pollard played for five different franchises in the NBA in
his illustrious career — the Detroit Pistons, the Kings, the Indiana Pacers,
the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Celtics.
