Ben Simmons is slowly getting ready to make his comeback. The Brooklyn Nets haven't set a timeline for his return, but Nets' coach Jacque Vaughn provided some insights about what's the recovery plan for the former All-Star.
"At some point, I think we'll use Long Island, hopefully, for him to have a practice or have more teammates around him. Hopefully, that will be in the near future," Vaughn said.
Long Island refers to the Long Island Nets of the G League. It has become common practice to send players to the G League as part of their rehabilitation process prior to making a reappearance in an NBA game.
Simmons hasn't played since Nov. 6, when he suffered a recurrence of back problems. Since then, he has been in the process of rehabbing, and the Nets continue to express hope that Simmons will return to action this season.
While there is no concrete timetable, the possibility of Simmons using the G League as part of his preparation is increasing the anticipation among Nets fans. In the meantime, the team continues to work to ensure that Simmons returns in top form and contributes to their aspirations during the current season.
