NBA’s reigning MVP Joel Embiid has stated that his goal is to stay healthy for the rest of the year after helping the Philadelphia 76ers to a stunning victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday.
The 29-year-old was once again influential on his return to the court as he registered a whopping 41 points in just 31 minutes including 10 rebounds.
Embiid missed three games in a row because of a knee injury which put his position to retain the MVP status in doubt as no player will be eligible for the award if he misses more than eight games in the season.
After the match, Embiid, while talking about his objectives, stated that he is just keen on staying fit throughout the season.
"It doesn't matter how many games I play; the goal is to be healthy the rest of the year," he said. "I've already done it. If I have a chance to get a second one, I'll do it. I'm not going to force myself or push for it. My game is always going to speak for itself. We're winning. That's the main thing.

“We've got to keep winning and you put in the stats to be in the [MVP] conversation that's great, too. But at the end of the day, if there's something going on, and I can't meet the requirement for the amount of games played to qualify for that, then so be it. We look at the long run and what's coming up next. Hopefully it doesn't swell up again."
