Everyone can agree that
Victor Wembanyama of the
San Antonio Spurs is having an incredible first season in the NBA. He is most certainly going to be Rookie of the Year and has shown great talent and potential and growth already.
And some NBA fans think that he is just getting started.
Nicolas Batum, player for the
Philadelphia 76ers, thinks this might be Wembanyama's worst season, meaning he is only going to get better after his terrific rookie year.
"This might be his worst season of his career," Batum said to Sportskeeda. "That's scary."
Wembanyama is putting up 20.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and a league-high 3.4 blocks per game. And although the Spurs have been doing poorly this year, there is no doubt that the future for the team is very bright with Wembanyama involved.
He has incredible height and a high basketball IQ already but the most amazing thing about Wembanyama is the growth he has shown during 2023-24. He has already improved his offense in a big way and has become one of the top defensive players in the league. All of this has been achieved within a matter of months, proving just how much he can improve.
If he's already this good, what will Wembanyama be like in a few years? That is the fact that's scary to Batum. The Spurs star is already all but guaranteed to be Rookie of the Year but how soon until Wembanyama wins MVP?
