One possession game, Celtics crank up the defense. Derrick White and Jayson Tatum with blocks.
There's a debate that's always swirling around the league, that if wether or not, modern NBA's defense is worst than in other eras. Or if It's just that the game evolved more on the offensive side. Also, the rules have changed along the years. All these factors, and the fact that throughout this current season we've seen numerous players scoring an insane amount of points; Joel Embiid got 70, Karl-Anthony Towns and Devin Booker passed the 60; everything points to a defensive downfall. But then there are teams that play with heart on D, teams that just make those offensive teams look bad. The kind of teams that nobody wants to play, here we'll take a look at which are the best defensive teams up to now.
We'll take the opportunity check the defensive aspect of the league and we want to show you which are the 10 teams with the lowest defensive rating of the season. It is not surprising that the leaders of both conferences, Minnesota Timberwolves in the West and Boston Celtics in the East, are placed first and third in the ranking.
Second are the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are fourth in the East right now with the best streak in the league at the moment. The New York Knicks, since the signing of OG Anunoby, are moving up in the standings. The Oklahoma City Thunder, who are fighting for the lead in the West, are fifth behind the Orlando Magic, who still lack some talent on offense, but are doing a brutal job on defense.
The top 10 is narrowly missed by teams that are favorites for the ring such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets or Miami Heat. Needless to say that the last positions are for Washington Wizards or San Antonio Spurs. Penultimate are Indiana Pacers who play at 150 points and are first in offensive rating.
