Tough loss for
Dallas Mavericks against
Philadelphia 76ers at the American Airlines Center in another duel in which
Jason Kidd showed that everything original he was as a player is not as original as a coach. Between
Tyrese Maxey and
Tobias Harris they dismantled the Texan defense and this time
Luka Doncic could not save the Mavs despite the fact that the duel was played at a perfect time to be seen live in Slovenia.
Kidd again insisted on giving more minutes than necessary to Tim Hardaway Jr. who finished the game with 2 points and zero of six in three pointers. It was not the day of the deadline signings either, with PJ Washington missing five of the six three-pointers he attempted and Daniel Gafford irrelevant. Between him and Dereck Lively four shots in the whole duel. The 38 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists of a frustrated Doncic were of no use on this occasion. Neither were
Kyrie Irving's 28. Many of his points came too late in the fourth period, when the Sixers' lead was unreachable.
For the Sixers, a sensational game from a resuscitated Tobias Harris who must continue with this consistency to keep his team on top in the East. He finished with 28 points and 5 rebounds. Maxey added 24 and Kelly Oubre Jr. 21 off the bench.
This loss leaves the Mavs in the thick of the battle with the Warriorz and Lakers to avoid the last two playoff spots in the West. The Sixers give themselves some breathing room in the face of brutal competition in the East with Knicks, Heat, Magic and Pacers.
