Atalanta Hawks guard
Trae Young is edging closer to
returning to full fitness, the franchise confirmed as per
ESPN.
The 25-year-old has been out of action for more than a month
after suffering a torn ligament in his left pinkie finger. For that, he was
operated on February 27 and had a follow-up a month later.
As per ESPN, the franchise confirmed that the player has
improved in rehabilitation but it is not clear when he will be fit enough to
join the team. In his absence, the Hawks have struggled as they registered just
eight wins and suffered seven defeats in 15 outings.
It is for this reason the Hawks are currently placed
in the 10th position in the Eastern Conference with 32 wins and 39
defeats.
Young was the Hawks star performer this season before
getting injured as he was contributing 26.4 points per game which is the 11th-best
in the competition. To go with that, he also contributed 10.8 assists per game
which is the second-best by a player this season in the NBA.
His best performance
in the ongoing campaign came against the San Antonio Spurs where he registered
45 points to go with four rebounds and 14 assists.
