The
Indiana Pacers faced yesterday the Oklahoma City Thunder in Indianápolis.
Tyrese Haliburton's squad managed to defeat the Western 3rd seeded Thunder, taking advantage of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's absense. However, Haliburton has been dealing with some back problems, this situation is the main reason for his regular performances. With the playoffs on the line, tomorrow the Pacers are playing Miami and Tyrese is listed as 'questionable', will he be able to suit up?
The Indiana Pacers have been a solid team throughout this 2023-24 regular season. In the first part of the season, they reached the In-season tournament finals, playing entertaining basketball. Not so much defense, but great offensives schemes involving a lot of ball movement. Haliburton skills as Indiana's point guard fit perfectly with what coach Carlisle wants from his squad.
Haliburton finished with eight points and 11 assists in the Pacers' 126-112 victory over the shorthanded Oklahoma City Thunder. Tyrese broke Mark Jackson record of most assists in a season.
Despite his production, it's clear that his back is giving him problems. He often is seen wearing a wrap on his back when he's on the bench. Indiana needs him more than ever. The Heat is right on the Pacers' heels, only one victory behind. This is why Sunday's game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse represents so much for both teams.
Unfortunately for the Pacers, Miami appears to have recovered its full strength, with several players coming back to action, such as
Tyler Herro. Avoiding the play-in tournament is the main objective for both squads.
With all these at stake, it's unlikely that Haliburton stay out, but with the playoffs down the corner, Carlisle might decide to protect his main weapon and go for rookie guard Ben Sheppard and TJ McConnell providing veteran help from the bench.
