Legendary forward
LeBron James’ future remains a talking
point in the world of basketball, especially after the announcement of his son
Bronny being registered to take part in the
NBA draft next season.
The 39-year-old has repeatedly expressed his desire to play
alongside his son and become the first father-son duo to play in the NBA.
For this reason, we bring you a list of five teams that will have the financial muscle to sign James and also draft Bronny this summer, including the option for the former to remain with the
Los Angeles Lakers and, consequently, the latter to make his NBA debut with the Los Angeles franchise. In addition, there is also the crazy possibility that both could end up with the
Golden State Warriors.
Los Angeles Lakers
The first team on the list is the Lakers. James
has been playing with them since the 2018 season and as things stand, he can
opt into his $51.4 million salary next season or even sign a contract
extension with the Lakers.
San Antonio Spurs
The second team on the list is surprisingly Spurs. The team is
set to finish at the bottom of the Western Conference table this season but their
current coach Gregg Popovich and James have shown a lot of respect in the past.
Also, drafting Bronny matches the profile of the franchise where the focus is
to bring in younger players.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Oklahoma City Thunder is next on the list. The side is
having an impressive season where they have already booked their place in the
playoffs but they are set to lose an important player Gordon Hayward in the summer.
If he leaves, James can be a perfect replacement to join the likes of Shai
Gilgeous-Alexander and make the Thunder a real title contender next season.
Philadelphia 76ers
Fourth in the list features the Philadelphia 76ers. The side
have a lot of players who are coming to the end of their contract in the summer
which will give them an opportunity to sign a player like James. In the draft,
the Sixers have a second pick and therefore, they can definitely make a move
for Bronny as well.
Golden State Warriors
Last on the list features the Golden State Warriors. James has
been heavily linked with the Warriors in the recent past and him going there
makes a lot of sense, both in terms of the team combination and commercially as
well as he will be playing alongside Stephen Curry. As things stand, the Warriors
are set to lose some key players in Klay Thompson and even Chris Paul and
therefore, they will have the financial muscle to make a move for the 39-year-old.
