Both of these teams were banged up coming into this matchup, so in this contest it was Tyrese Maxey who stepped up his game and led the Philadelphia 76ers to a 98-91 win over the Miami Heat at Wells Fargo Center.
There were numerous injuries on both squads that involved key players. Some of the notable players who were out for Philly was Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and De’Anthony. Meanwhile, Miami were without Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Kevin Love to name a few. A lot of role players got more minutes in this one to compensate for the absences.
Tyrese Maxey took advantage of his increased role, as he finished with 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. Had 22 points, 11 boards, and 5 blocks while Kyle Lowry scored 16 points against his former team. Buddy Hield contributed 12 points off the bench.
Bam Adebayo did his best to carry his team to victory as he recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. Terry Rozier also chipped in 20 points with 8 boards and Caleb Martin provided 13 points off the bench. Rookie Jaime Jacques Jr. ended with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
Philadelphia improves to 38-30 with this huge win, as they now jump up to the 6th seed in the East. They hold a 0.5 game lead above the 7th seeded Pacers and is now on a 2-game winning streak. The 76ers will look to add on to this hot streak on Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns.
Miami drops to 37-31 with this loss and are currently the 8th seed, sitting 0.5 games behind the Pacers at 7. It’s been a tough season for the Heat but they still have a chance to avoid the play-in if they can lock in for the last month of the season. They are 4-6 over their last 10 games and will look to bounce back on Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
