On Saturday night, during the Pistons-Mavericks matchup, Detroit fans decided to launch a provocation against
Luka Doncic by chanting "Luka sucks." What followed, however, was a jaw-dropping masterful performance by the Slovenian.
Shortly after the game began, Doncic unleashed himself on the court, recording an impressive stat line of 39 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds. This accomplishment makes him the first player in NBA history to reach six consecutive triple-doubles of 30+ points, a milestone that highlights his dominance in the game.
Faced with the fans' provocations, Doncic remained calm and responded with his best weapon: his game. In words collected by Grant Afseth, the player expressed: "I don't know why they would do that [chant 'Luka sucks']. I love it. They know it's not true, and they keep doing it, so I don't know." This calm and focused attitude demonstrates the maturity and determination of the young talent.
But Doncic's night did not end there. In addition to his historic feat, the Slovenian player became the first player in NBA history to post five consecutive triple-doubles of more than 35 points, adding another record to his already impressive career.
However, Doncic was not alone in this outstanding performance. Kyrie Irving contributed 21 points for the Mavericks, who secured a comfortable 142-124 victory over the Pistons. Despite the home team's effort, led by Cade Cunningham with 33 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, and Simone Fontecchio with 27 points, they were unable to stop the Dallas powerhouse.
