In a rather unique game according to present NBA scoring standards, the
Philadelphia 76ers defeated the
New York Knicks in the Madison Square Garden this Sunday 79-73. A very low scoring for a grindy, hard-fought game between two teams plagued with injuries. With the pressure at its peak,
Donte DiVincenzo protagonized an incident with sixers' Kelly Oubre.
With both teams plagued with injuries, the game suffered from an offensive point of view, with New York shooting 32% from the field, 22% from three-point range. Philadelphia was slightly, just slightly better, shooting almost 39% from the field and 30% from long distance.
New York came to this game looking for a win at home to keep that 4th spot in the Eastern Conference that offers homecourt advantage for the first round of the playoffs.
The Sixers, meanwhile, are sixth in the East and a win would put some distance over the Indiana Pacers.
With only 4 minutes left in the fourth and the Sixers up by seven, DiVincenzo drives to the hoop, bumps right into Nicolas Batum and Kelly Oubre standed right over him while he was still on the floor, something that wasn't appreciated by the Knicks guard. This was enough for Donte to grab Oubre's leg an throw him down the floor as well. Fortunately, other players and security staff stopped the fight before it got bigger.
