The
Golden State Warriors have undoubtably had a very rough season so far and were out of playoff contention for the last few months. However, they have recently rebounded and put together some impressive wins. Steph Curry and his crew have now gone 8-2 in their last ten games.
But their loss on Sunday night to the Denver Nuggets once again revealed some very troubling issues that Golden State has been battling for a very long time. They had a big lead and gave it up, even at home. Throughout the match, there were glaring examples of recurring issues that the Warriors can't seem to shake.
The Warriors now have a 29-27 record and are the tenth team in the Western Conference. They are certainly doing better than they were but there are still a lot of worries about what's ahead for them. Questions swirl: can they win enough to reach the playoffs? Will they qualify for the Play-In Tournament? Which opponent will they face when the postseason begins?
Curry has remained solid during all of 2023-24 and
Jonathan Kuminga has turned his season around and become a revelation. Meanwhile,
Klay Thompson has shown some signs of old-fashioned brilliance after being moved to the bench last week.
Draymond Green's return has also helped the team out a lot.
There is more good news coming for the Warriors, as Chris Paul is set to return soon. If he can bolster the team's second unit even more, especially alongside Thompson, the team's chances of reaching the playoffs will be even higher.
On Sunday night, head coach
Steve Kerr laid out what the team needs to do in the weeks ahead. "It's two-way basketball, good defense and solid offense. The last few weeks, we've been doing both. Tonight just wasn't our night. Shots weren't going. We didn't get into much of a rhythm," Kerr said.
He added, "But I'm confident that we can get back on track because we've been playing pretty well."
The Warriors have indeed shown signs of life after many struggles. Now the question is if they can keep it up as the most important part of the season approaches.
