New Orleans Pelicans young power forward
Zion Williamson showcased
his pace and skills to help the side in securing a much-needed win against the San
Antonio Spurs.
The Pelicans came out on top in a nail-biting contest
against the Spurs at the Frost Bank Center with a score of 114-113 on Friday.
In a video that appeared on the social media platform X — previously
known as Twitter — Williamson made an incredible solo run and netted two
crucial points which proved to be the difference with just 3.2 seconds
remaining. It was the Pelicans' second consecutive defeat after three back-to-back
losses.
With the win, Pelicans stay on top of the Southwest
Standings with 28 wins and 21 defeats whereas the Spurs are on the fifth position with
just 10 wins and 39 defeats.
Williamson was the star performer for the winning team on
the night as he ended up registering 33 points including eight rebounds and
four assists. It was the first occasion in the last six outings in the competition
where the 23-year-old registered 30 or more points for the team.
After that performance, Williamson is now averaging 22
points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. His best performance this season
came against the Minnesota Timberwolves where he registered 36 points to go
with five rebounds and two assists.
