Milwaukee Bucks head coach
Doc Rivers has highlighted that his
first target is to give his team an ‘identity’ after suffering a defeat in his
first game in charge.
The 62-year-old has been recently appointed as the new
head coach of the Bucks after a surprise sacking of Adrian Griffin. He ended on
the losing side in the first game as head coach where the Cleveland Cavaliers came
out on top with a score of 112-100.
After the match, Rivers identified that one of the basic
problems his new team is facing is the lack of identity, something he would like
to correct in the matches to come.
“I think we have to find our identity,” he said. “Like if
you’re gonna have Fear the Deer, you gotta fear the deer. I asked them, ‘Who
are we?’ When a team is connected and they got it, they’ll give you an answer.
We don’t have an answer yet. We gotta find what are we, who are we.”
It seemed like those words did inspire his players as they
secured an important win against the New Orleans Pelicans with a score of 141-117
on Sunday. In that match, power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was the star performer
for the winning team as he ended up registering 30 points including 12 rebounds
and four assists.
