After several games played with USC, its safe to say that Bronny James, LeBron's oldest son, has a dualitiy in his game. There's no doubt about the athelticism is there, running through his veins, but the kid doesnt' seem ready at the moment to make the jump to the NBA. There's nothing wrong with this, as many great players spent more than just one year in college, taking advantage of the possibility to polish their game and get more experience before they turn to pro athletes.
Bronny is having some rought time adjusting to college basketball, as right now he's averaging 5.7 points and his highest score was 11 points. He's not getting a lot of minutes either, this last stretch of games USC's coach Andy Enfield has stick to the more mature players.
"He’s done a good job. He’s improved,” USC coach Andy Enfield said. “We just went with our veterans down the stretch, but he has continued to improve as a player."
The fact that Bronny is able to play after suffering a cardiac arrest last summer is simply amazing, it was just a scary situation due to a congenital heart defect. As his coach said, Bronny is showing signs of progress, his jump shot is going to be a weapon to fear, he has a big frame, not as his old man but he's currently at 6-4 and 210 pounds, not bad at all and with chances to keep growing, as the youngster is just 19 years-old. He can defend too, and of course, he has the basketball IQ in him.
The thing is that despite this encouraging abilities, Bronny's team is one of the most decepointing teams in college basketball, and his minutes (and his production) are very limited. He is a good basketball player … but right now, he is not a great one. He is a freshman still developing.
The Athletic's senior NBA columnist and former Memphis Grizzlies vice-president of basketball operations, John Hollinger, stated: “He’s not a guy who would normally be a one-and-done." This also suggests that maybe the King's son will need more time to develop properly to take his talents to the NBA.
LeBron's entering his 21st season, at 39 years old it's clear that he has not much fuel left in the tank, but he declared several times that he dreams to play a full NBA campaign alongside his son. Perhaps this means that maybe James will have to wait another season to reunite with Bronny, but none of this is bad news, as the basketball world wants to witness his greatness for as long as possible.
