NBA fans compared Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark with Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler after her performance in the NCAA Women's Championship encounter.
The 22-year-old’s team suffered a heartbreaking defeat to South Carolina in the final of the competition with a score of 87-75. It was the second consecutive year that Clark failed to lead her team to the title. Last year, they lost to the LSU Tigers.
Fans on social media compared Clark’s performance in big matches with the Heat’s Butler. The 34-year-old ended up on the losing side twice with the Heat in the finals, first against the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2019-2020 season and then against the Denver Nuggets last year.
“2 celebrated losers that can’t win big games,” one user wrote on the social media platform X. “They both wear 22 and are 0-2 in the Finals,” another one wrote.
Clark has been undoubtedly the most influential player currently playing in the NCAA Women’s Championship this season where she is contributing 31.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. She was influential even in the defeat against South Carolina where she ended up registering 30 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists.
Buttler, on the other hand, is having a fabulous season for the Heat where he is contributing 21.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
