Caitlin Clark will be a name to remember in the world of
women’s basketball. The sport, as it seems, has been largely dominated by the men’s
section over the years, there have been few players who managed to make a name
for themselves playing the women’s version of the NBA which is known as WNBA. Surpassing
Pete Maravich 's
NCAA scoring record has taken her beyond Iowa to stardom.
One name who is going to be the star player in the WNBA for years
to come will be none other than Clark. The 22-year-old has not yet played in
the competition but is already a household name in the basketball community.
That is largely down to her performances on the court which
at times looks a little bit ridiculous to say the least. Clark, as things stand,
is producing more three-pointers per game this season than the Golden State
Warriors star Stephen Curry, despite playing matches which are eight minutes shorter.
Clark's one of the most recent outings in college basketball came
in the match against the Northwestern side. Clark alone has produced 112
three-pointers this season, the Northwestern side, as a team, managed to
register just 111 three-pointers in the whole of the campaign.
That stat alone shows how special of a player Clark is and it is no wonder that everyone wants to see her play on the court before she makes her
move to the WNBA.
After the match, Clark talked to the media and stated that
her success is not down to herself only and that she never feels any pressure while
playing in front of the audience.
“None of this comes just because of me,” said the Iowa-born
after the contest. “There’s people around me that let me be successful no
matter what area of life it is. I don’t feel much pressure coming into these
games. The more people, the more calm I am.”
