Dallas Mavericks Grant Williams congratulated fellow star
player
Luka Doncic for his incredible performance in an interesting manner.
The 24-year-old made his way to the history books as he registered
73 points and helped the side in registered a win over the Atlanta Hawks with a
score of 148-143 on Friday.
After the match, Williams congratulated Doncic by combining his
nine points in the match. “82 points right here Congrats brother that was
special to witness it,” he wrote.
Talking about the match afterwards, the Ljubljana-born
stated that he feels special about the night.
"We have less than 24 hours until the next game, so I
have to recover," he said. "Those names are special. It's
unbelievable. I feel special to be in that conversation with those names.
“I was just going, you know, whatever the defense give me.
The second half, they doubled me all the time, so I tried to make some plays,
and sometimes I would break the double. So, just seeing the game.”
Doncic ended up registering the fourth-most points in a
single game in the history of the NBA. Only Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant and David
Thompson have managed to score 73 or more in a single game before him.
That performance took Doncic to the second position in the
points per game leaderboard where he is averaging 33.6 points per game, only
behind Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers who is averaging 36 points per
game.
