Having past the trade deadline, all the NBA teams are stuck with their present roster until the season ends. It's because of this that many franchises are planning their next moves for the 2024
Free Agency. One of the names that's getting more and more interest is Atlanta's superstar point guard,
Trae Young.
At least that's what journalist and NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports points out. "Several teams believe the Hawks will trade Tare Young in the offseason," he says. The reason for that is because the Georgia franchise's project is not working out as expected.
In addition, Atlanta spent several weeks negotiating Dejounte Murray's departure with different franchises prior to the Trade Deadline. Ultimately, as none managed to offer a trade that convinced the Hawks, the franchise decided to keep its player. But that doesn't mean their plans to restructure their roster are over.
Much will depend on what the Atlanta Hawks do down the stretch in the 2023/24 NBA season. Right now, the team is 10th in the Eastern Conference with a 22-29 record, sitting in the last play-in spot. Too little for a team that, at the beginning of the season, was expected to compete for the playoff spots.
Finally, Jake Fischer concludes his report by stating that two teams that remain very attentive to Trae Young's situation are the
Los Angeles Lakers and
San Antonio Spurs.
