In this battle between the two top teams in the East, the Boston Celtics proved their dominance as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 122-119 at TD Garden behind an all-around effort by Jayson Tatum.
These two squads are led by elite superstars in this league. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum are both in the MVP conversation for valid reasons and they both are looking to win a championship this year.
The Greek Freak is searching for his second ring after winning one back in 2021. He has a new sidekick in Damian Lillard and this dynamic duo can both take over a game with their respective skillsets, whether that’s dominating in the paint for the 2-time MVP or drilling deep three pointers for Dame Dolla.
On the other hand, Tatum is looking to win his first championship in his career. After falling short the past few years, this is the best team that he’s been apart of. He has an amazing supporting cast and it shows with their success, as they have the best record in the NBA by a wide margin.
The 5-time All-Star did a little bit of everything in this game, as he finished with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Derrick White recorded 23 points, 8 assists, and 2 blocks while Jaylen Brown had 21 points and 8 boards. Kristaps Porzingis scored 17 points while Payton Pritchard contributed 19 points off the bench including 5 made three pointers.
The Bucks were without Giannis for a second-straight game so Damian Lillard exploded again, hitting 6 triples and ending with 32 points. Khris Middleton had a good game as well, finishing with 22 points, 6 boards, and 6 assists on 8/11 shooting. Bobby Portis recorded a monster 24 points and 15 rebounds off the bench.
Boston improves to 55-14 with this win and widens the gap to 11 games in the East. They have clinched the Atlantic Division and are now looking to clinch the first seed in the conference. The Celtics are currently on a 7-game winning streak and will look to keep this success up on Friday against the Detroit Pistons.
Milwaukee drops to 44-25 with this loss and hold a 1 game lead over the Cavs for the 2nd seed in the East. This is a tough loss for the Bucks but they should be proud that they fought all the way till the end against the best team in the NBA without Giannis Antetokounmpo. They will learn from this game considering this could potentially be an Eastern Conference Finals matchup. This squad is 6-4 over their last 10 games and will look to bounce back tomorrow against the Brooklyn Nets.
