The
Sacramento Kings were up by as much as 22 points in this
game, but
Coby White had himself a career night and led the
Chicago Bulls to a
113-109 comeback victory at Golden 1 Center.
White is having a career year, averaging 19.3 points, 4.8
rebounds, and 5.3 assists n 36.6 minutes per game. The former lottery pick is
in the running to win Most Improved Player and with his fantastic play, he is
looking like a franchise piece for the present and future. With question marks
surrounding key Bulls players this offseason, the ex-Tar Heel may become the
leader of this squad as early as next season.
In this contest, the 24-year-old exploded for 37 points on
14/19 shooting.
DeMar Derozan had an amazing night as well, finishing with 33
points on 83% shooting. Ayo Dosunmu scored 20 points while Nikola Vucevic
recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.
For the Kings, De’Aaron Fox scored a team high 20 points to
go along with 10 rebounds.
Domantas Sabonis recorded a dominant 18 points and
21 rebounds while Kevin Huerter had 12 points. Keegan Murray and Malik Monk
each finished with 11 points while Harrison Barnes ended with 10 points.
Chicago improves to 29-32 with this win and sit comfortably
at the 9 seed in the East. It’s looking like the Bulls will finish around here
but it’s still technically possible for them to rise or fall, so they just need
to stay consistent in order to compete in the play-in tournament. Over their
last 10 games, this team is 5-5 and they will face off against the Utah Jazz on
Wednesday.
Meanwhile, this is a tough loss for Sacramento as they now
drop to 34-26, falling to the 7th seed in the West. This is a huge
defeat for the Kings as they now sit as a play-in team, and with aspirations to
make the playoffs, they would like to avoid the tournament as much as possible.
They sit 0.5 games behind the 6th seeded Suns and will go up against
the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
