The Dallas Mavericks are going trough a rough stretch of games again this season. After the trade deadline, the Mavs seemed to have figure it out, winning six straight games. But the struggles came back, magnified due to their lack of consistency.
One of Dallas' biggest problems has been the poor performance of Tim Hardaway Jr. They need him to improve considerably if Jason Kidd plans to keep him in the rotation. Kidd only played Hardaway Jr. for 15 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, and this could be a sign that his role could diminish even further.
As we look ahead to the Mavericks' upcoming showdown with the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, Mavs star Kyrie Irving reassured fans that they will figure things out despite their current difficulties.
"We're going to be fine, that's for everyone watching from home," Irving said. "We have to trust that we can put in the necessary work to get these wins. We've proven that before ... No more excuses."
Irving took full responsibility here and seems confident that Dallas can turn things around. This is the same team that just won seven games in a row, and they can get back to playing that way if everyone is committed and brings high energy.
Lack of energy has been a problem for the Mavs in many of their losses this season, and Luka Doncic and Irving must lead this team, and set the tone early in games. If the stars bring it, the rest of the team will follow.
